  1. I’m surprised to see your transliteration of “Taaqat” The “th” almost, ironically, makes it sound like “thakkan,” which is “tiredness” — the opposite of what you want to say. I couldn’t figure out what “thaakat” was until I saw your website and I teach Urdu! Too late to change, I suppose.

  2. Hi Tahira!

    We used the best phonics we knew as young South Asian Americans to choose a spelling that both the native population could understand as well as Americans. Taaqat would be complicated as there is no “q” in the english language used unless is it followed by a “u”.

    Th (phonics as in the word “th-at”)
    AA (Stresses the AAAAA)
    kat (well that’s just as it sounds)

    Basically followed the entire phonics of the word “Zakaat” as it is written in english.

  3. hello.i am writing to you from Azerbaijan.my 10 years old niece fall ill with leukemia.at first she was in our country’s hospital,but then she became badly and we had to take away from here.some people advised to us to take her to Moscow and now she is in Moscow children’s clinical hospital.her parents paid some money for her treatment.but for extension her treatment we haven’t got money.that’s why we are applying to you for help us.she is only 10 years old.and she wants to live.please don’t stay indifferent to her.and help us.advice to us what will we do?PLEASE ANSWER US.
